Why - Hey, dads small 3 gal tropical tank is killing small fish yet the ammonia and nitrite levels are fine and he has plants to help absorbs itrates, etc. He has an undergravel filter and in 2 weeks has lost 3 cherry barbs and 2 neon tetras!!!!! He doesnt feed them too much and does water changes regularly. Anyone know what could be killing them? kinda urgent obviously. . . .

What - I have a nice 30 gallon coldwater tank with one goldfish in that seems a little lonely, can anyone suggest some tankmates? ( it is 2ft long x 2ft high x 1ft deep) Gettin some money soon and wana spend it on friends for mi lonely thingi.

Please give info as i love fish and one fish is kinda boring to watch. . .

sudden deaths over a short period is often a bacterial infection
I suggest a 7 day course of melafix to see if tha improves things, if not
then try a stronger anti-bacterial med.

a 30G tank with only one goldfish could have an extra goldfish (IE 2)
as goldfish need 20G for the first fish and 10 for each additional fish.
other than that checkout the following topic for alternatives to goldfish.
Keep in mind that if it fits into the goldfishes mouth then it is food, that includes small fish
