Picture this sitting round all morning waiting for our moving guys to arrive (brisbane-hobart, 2000km,2 months with most of our stuff). Yay they come mid afternoon :D . Get everything unloaded including out 2 20gallon all in one jobs we kept. Moving setting up our big telly in the lounge I back into our fish tank we got since we were here (cant live without fish right :fun: ) then BANG CRASH WHOOSH glass water and a fish everywhere (about 27gallons). PANIC Ok grab fish buck fill with water find fish find fish, panic what to do water everywhere, hmmm people on TFF say heaters on windows open, ok will do, hey hang on mums got a wet and dry vac, 2 blocks away, phone, describe emergency spend next three hours vaccing 15-20L out of the carpet, currently in middle of letting water settle from setting up one of our old tanks that thank goodness arrived. Oh well the glories of fish keeping

Oh no! The worst possible thing that can happen in fishkeeping

It's a fear we all have - one of our tanks just breaking and exploding everywhere. But I think you handled it very well. I would have still been crying :/

Hope your fish (and your floor!) recover well!

sounds like you did ok there mate! speed is of the essence!!
if my 100gal exploded i think i would drown :S lol
not to mention get stung by sea urchins and chewed by hermit crabs lol

Hope it all works out well for ya and your fishies!!

I live in fear that our 6ft will pop one day. Of course it's on the ground floor and we have wooden floors so the water would just go down the gaps, but what would I then do with all my plecs?

Hope everyone is ok and doing well.

hope everythings ok, and the fishies. The closest thing can imagine that happened to me recently was when i forgot the siphon was running so came upstairs to my fish swimming in 2 inches of water at the bottom of the tank, 3 gallons in the bucket and, erm, about 6 gallons in my carpet, luckily we have a dehumidifier so that helped, but it still took days to sry out, and it was starting to smell.

oh wow u must have panicked. think the closest thing i've done is left the air line hanging out of my 4 foot tank all night   was like where has the water gone in the morning lol.
neighbours who lived below us at the time were very understanding. we were living on the 12th floor of a block of flats at the time

geez my horror story never came anywhere near this. the msot i ever had happen was oversiphon a tank into the bucket nd a little poured over and got a little spot on the floor wet. i noticed it before to much ran over.

another hting is knocking over my gfs betta tanks. she has them in 1-2.5 gal tanks and well i have (on multiple occasions) knocked them over and got water everywhere.

but thats EXTREMELY minor compared to you guys.

i'm glad all the fishies are okay. you kept a decent state of mind in the panic. many people would have been trying to get up the water and forgot about the fish, or vise versa. you took care of both. good job!
