I checked the filter, gravel, and rock, but no body to be found. Wah habben?

Did you dig around inthe gravel?
when's the last time you saw him?
Do you have cats or dogs?
Any way he could jump out? Cuz if you have pets they could have eaten him.

Yup, dug up the gravel. Last time I saw him was last week Wednesday morning at feeding time. He didn't look too good. I was going to remove him the next day. Thursday came and he's nowhere to be found. I checked the corners and flipped over everything. No dogs or cats. Lid was on. No spaces.

I agree. If he looked poorly on Wednesday and you couldn't find him Thursday, they probably had a snack while you were sleeping. I woke up recently to find my angel had a big tummy and one of my glolites missing. Did any of your fishies look extremely full?

This is most likely course of events I think, although I would point the finger at the betta as the murderer.

<hijack - Damn, I love Martha..... she's looking more like a baby seal every day! A v. sexy baby seal of course!!!>

Hmmm, I think the other tetra did it, he wanted to be Tetra King of the tank. Then he promised the catfish 2 algae wafers to eat the evidence :p
