I have not been plant-keeping for very long, but some of my first plants I ever got were bunches of moneywort. They annoyed me with their tendency to just let loose and float around, so I spent a lot of time hoping they would die so I wouldn't have a constantly wet arm from shoving them back into the gravel. This is a very hard plant to kill, apparently.

So I had to do a little rescaping in my one tank which has Floramax gravel -not the sand - as a substrate, and I had shoved a handful of moneywort in one of the corners a while back. I tugged on it last night to move it (got a new in-tank filter, so needed that corner), and it had ROOTED! I honestly didn't even know this plant could root, as it has never done so in any of my other 1,000 tanks. Okay, well, 4 other tanks. Maybe not 1,000. But I wonder if it was the Floramax that did it!?

If it is the Floramax I may have to rescape my tank and add that under the sand! Thats pretty awesome by the way!

I let some float around, for the Betta. But have most planted in plain old playsand. Dose with Flourish twice a week and great honking root clusters. Even lovely new sprouts.
Of course I have had these stems a couple of years.

Yeah, stems are a pain to get rooted, but once they do they tend to go crazy.
