Who Has Real Plants With There Cichlids?

Just wondering if any one has real plants with ther cichlid fish?

just got a 6foot fish tank and looking empty now!! not sure what to put in there!

Mine is heavily planted, but I have kribs, so no mbunas. If you want to know which plants you would be able to put in, have a look at this site: http/www.tropica.com/default.asp

You can do an advanced search, which allows you to search by pH or temperature for instance.

I sometimes do. Only because they like nibbling at them which keeps them busy. So when i do, they dont last long lol. They either get totally eaten, or dug-up and ripped apart.

Same here, my val. has lasted quite a few months but it's about time to replant.

If you really want plants in your aquarium, id go with fake. You can get some nice/realistic ones if you look around. The only reason i put real plants in mine is to treat them once in a while because i know they like it ...

2/3week tops.

I duno what eles to fill my tank up with? i have about 25kilo oceon rock and 25k tuffa rock! and 6 pots!! im getting board ov just seeing lots ov rock!!

They dont have plants in their natural habitat, just loads of algae covered rock.

I have plant's in my krib tank. Java moss is good for mbuna, as it grows real fast.

I had a very large amazon sword in my Mbuna tank, did very well, I moved it about a year later back into my 30gal comunity tank since I started adding african salts and the plant didn't like that at all.

My anubias latest a while, but they slowly, but surely destroyed them. If you feed them plenty of cabbage and spinach so they will eat those instead.

Not really the yellow labs have the occasional peck but thats about it the aulonocara, copadichromis and synos all ignore them.
