The only thing I've gotten him to eat so far is earthworms. Curious what other things people have fed theirs with success? My bluegills will eat freeze dried krill, but so far the bass won't touch it.

Haven't had any game fish before but I do know that if the bass is big enough or the blue gills are small enough, he will eat them. Actually either of them should eat any minnows or feeder fish you put in with them.

The bass is a juvenille, only about 4 inches long, while the Blue Gill are around 6-8 inches, and quite a bit larger than him.

try feeding him small feeder fish or minnows, he will love them. and also bugs should work well too or even tadpoles.

I fish for largemouth bass in the summer. They like live minnows the best. Put some small danios or feeder fish about 1" long or less in the tank with him. If he is about 4" long he should feed when hungry.

Yeah, minnows work, even small crayfish will sometimes get them going. Mine always picked at whatever we dropped in the water flow of the filter, I think the movement draws their attention and makes them want to check it out.

Bass definitely prefer live food. That's the reason so many fishing lures look live minnows and fishermen try to mimic the movement of minnows with them. They may not take food that simply falls to the bottom.

Bass will usually eat just about anything. Ok here think about it this way, what do you fish with and catch them with? Minnows, Leaches, Earth Worms, Hot dog

I never could get a 12 inch largemouth I had caught to eat anything. Tried for a whole week. Had to keep him seperated at times from the other fish, since it appeared he would like to eat them instead of the worms I was trying. I finally decided yesterday to release him back into the pond, didn't want to risk hurting him. Just thought I'd give an update on this tank. Guess one of my problems is I'm not the type that can feed fish to other fish, had a tough enough time with the worms.

You can feed him anything from crickets, minnows(guppies),worms I have even got the fish to eat bologna I had a bass and a couple bluegill in a tank one time.Oh and they also like grass shrimp if you can get those I get tons and they ate em up.

Thats a nice size bluegill!!!!! :)

after you catch a bass, they wont eat for a few days to a week. reason is, they dont want to get hooked again. they eat live feeder goldfish. you can also tie a fishing line to a toothpick, make sure its really tight, and poke the toothpick in a frozen silversides mouth. this works for me.

If its small enough, you might be able to get it to eat freeze dried krill as well, my little bass loves it.
