So in my tank are:
1 sunburst platy
5 neon tetras
2 ghost shrimp
3 Zebra Danios
1 golden gourami
1 Dwarf Gourami
1 Bristle nose pleco
1 African drawf frog

but this neon isn't just dead it's been eaten, eyes gone, half it's body munched on. So who did it?

My bet would be on the pleco. They will sometimes 'suck' on a slow moving fish, even when it is alive. Most likely it died and the pleco had a go at it. I used to have a tank full of mollies and platties (for breeding) and it was hard to notice if one passed. Usually found them underneath the pleco.

I would do your water tests to see if that played a part in the death or was otherwise affected by it. You could also feed some algea tabs to help ensure that it is not hungry. The other tank mates could be suspect as well, but at least with the algea tabs, you could be relatively happy knowing your pleco isnt having to scavenge too much.

P.S. I tried keeping ghost shrimp as well once. They didnt last long. How long have you had yours? They also will eat anything and could be competing with your pleco. They are cool shrimp to watch, they never stop! Just wish they were a little more long lived than they are.

I dont think any of your fish/shrimps could kill it, it died and once its dead it is dinner for everyone even for the other neons

i think your all most likely right butttttttttttttt, I have had lots of fish die in the past and this never happened before. ALL the neons looked very healthy last night when i went to bed and again this morning, very active for neons and then boom i find this half eaten courpse, i wonder if it's becuase i have been feeding the tank blood worms (frozen) and now they want blood...........

I've had the same thing happen to white cloud minnows and a tetra and it was my shrimp. I've seen my shrimp (Dr Prawn) eat a tetra alive, it wasn't a nice sight. Took about an hour before the fish died during which time it ate it's tail and head. It's quite possible that the tetra wasn't too strong as one of my weak white clouds was eaten in a similar fassion, must have been the shrimp as there was nothing else in the tank aggressive; i have the following:

9X neon tetra
2X molly
1X guppy
1X freshwater shrimp

:)

i find it very doubtful that it was because they wanted 'blood'
it probly just passed on , and as others have said, all or most of the other fish just decided to have a good munch.

I was joking of course............................

I've also had a ghost shrimp eat fish before.

It was an especially large one (2 inches+), and both killed and gnawed on a Neon as well as ripping a leg off a dwarf african frog, ultimately killing it.

i know, i would have found it hard to believe if you was being serious, though i did have to think for a moment if you was being serious or not
