whitespot

dont put salt in there, the loaches wont like it!

turn the temp up and add meds.Do water changes and it should go away.

whitespot is often caused by stress so find out what caused it if u can.did u add any new fish?

take your carbon filter out.add your white spot medicine as prescribed, and everything should be ok.

One thing on the meds........look carefully at the information on the bottle. Some meds like Kordon's Rid Ich aren't safe for clown loaches. Usually in that case, you can use a half dose. I have never had any luck bringing clown loaches safely through a case of ich. They are very sensitive to it and the meds.

Good luck!

ammonia - 0
nitrIte - 0
nitrAte - 20

fish have had bit of stress due to recent ammonia spike nut things seemed to have calmed down a bit with that now (ammonia spike was down to gon off water fleas)

also why do i need to remove the carbon filter? is that the black one?

Active carbon (the black charcoly stuff) will remove the medicine from the water. If you do not have a bacteria spounge, which I have seen in some of the cheaper filters, you will need to cut the filter apart, remove the carbon, and put back the floss as not to remove the bacteria.

Interpet no 5, temp to 80oF, remove carbon from filter, no water changes during treatment, feed every other day (as you won't be able to do water changes so you won't want to over feed - you won't be starving them, believe me!!!)

No harm in gravel vac - may remove ich spores (just dont syphon until treatment over).

yeah i think so lol.
i have a jewel and i think the carbon is the black spoge near the top of the filter

I'm sorry, Ich sucks everyone has told you everything though and make sure to read the label on the medicine to make sure it won't hurt your loaches!!

I'm not familiar with the Juwel filters, so I can't tell you exactly what your black spounge is off the top of my head. If it is like a pouch with chips of carbon in it (mine are about the size of one grain of aquarium salt), or some how holds them, then it is a carbon filter. If it is literally a black spoung, with nothing inside of it, that is where your bio spounge, or where the beneficial bacteria live.

Platyfreak was warning you to be careful with whatever ich meds you use, because scaleless fish (loaches) can be very sensitive to meds, and some medicines need to be used at half strength with the scaless fish. Just follow the directions on your box.

thanks for your help people. i think its the bio sponge so am gonna levae it in there. have treated fish they dont seem to be rubbing themselves up things so much and one of the clown loach has lost some of its whitespots. so fingers crossed xxx cheers for the help guys! :kana:
