Hi all,

I'm new to this forum, basically I need a bit of advice.

A few weeks ago I bought myself a Juwel Vision 260 fish tank for my front room, internal filter and the rest.

Got it all set up left it for a bit, introduced the fish a bit at a time, everything seemed to be going fine, been up and running for around 5 or 6 weeks now.

Last night I got home and did a quick head count in the tank, then I noticed that my cardinal tetras were literally covered in whitespot. With it being 7pm I coundn't get any treatment until this morning.

Anyway I managed to get hold of some Waterlife Protozin

http://www.waterlife.co.uk/waterlife/diseasetreatments.htm

However as I was supposed to be at work this morning, not shopping for fish treatments (boss was supprisingly sympathetic when I rolled in late). I only managed to skim over the instructions and I didn't remove the carbon filter from the filter, the water now looks clear not the blue colour it was this morning.

Do you recon I should carry on using as directed or start from scratch with the treatment , or bang some more in tonight ?

Basically - what do I do now ?

Thanks all

Steve.

got home tonight to find 4 of my 5 tetras dead and the fifth is MIA presumend dead

Hi Steve and welcome to the forum. :hi:

Sorry to hear about your problems with ich. The carbon in the filter probably will or did remove the medication from the water. After carbon has been in the tank for a while, it will stop absorbing. That's why the filter makers tell you to change filters every so many weeks (don't listen, just rinse in tank water).

I have been fortunate enough that I haven't had to deal with disease yet so I'm not real knowledgable about them. Try posting in the Emergency section and you will get better response. If you are having trouble posting anywhere but in Newbies, click the link on the verification email you received from TFF and you will be able to post anywhere. Good luck.
