1 of my fish had a spot on its head a couple of months ago and i was told it was whitespot so purchased some treatment and all seemed fine.a week later some of my fish started rubbing themselves on rocks i looked it up and saw it was another sign of whitespot so got some more treatment but has had no effect now most of my fish are flicking themselves on rocks and i dont know whats wrong with them as whitespot treatment is having no effect and there have been no more spots on my fish since the first inccident.any advice as to whats wrong with my fish would be greatlt appreciated thanks :dunno:

Wot treatment are u using.

the ones that say does once are useless u need one that has a course of treatments the water life ones are good. White spots are a paracidic infection and will dissapear if u turn ur tank temp up to about 81F - 82F. since my last outbreak i've always had the tank temp at 81F .

I tried three before I found one that worked - I now have 'King British' (?I think?) malachite green based one, apply every 48 hours, crank the temp round a bit and it's worked amazingly well on my stubborn month long ich problem...In fact I did my last treatment last night (kept going two treatments after visible symptons disappeared just in case)Highly recommended!

The failed ones were Interpret Whitespot Plus (killed my neons and did nothing for the ich) and methylene blue which might well have worked but realised after buying it said not suitable for planted tank/may kill bacteria so stopped using...I also tried salt but the neons didn't seem to like that either....(see my sig - I had nine neons at the start :( )

Hmmm, I am just dealing with my first ever outbreak of ich in a newly cycled tank. I used CopperSafe which states it treats ich. The directions state that you only have to treat the water once as it stays in the water for a month (have to add it to new water when doing water changes). I hope that this will work. I guess I should give it a chance, if not I will have to go get a malachite green based treatment.
