I have done some searching but my wife is freaking out so i thought i would go directly to the experts

Situation:

35 us gallon hex tank

6 red eye tetra
5 mollies
2 angels
5 guppies
1 pleco
1 bamboo shrimp

What i think is Ich/whitespot has appeared in the tank. Many but not all of the fish are showing signs. i have ich medication and it says for tetras usa a half dose. thats fine.

Also i have read about raising the temp to 80F and turning of the lights and removing the carbon. Check check check

3 questions

1 Should i add aquarium salt?
2 what about the shrimp? should i leave him in?
3 i have several java ferns. will they be ok?

Thanks in advance and any other advice is appreciated.

Ok

Ich can be killed by increasing the aquarium temperature a few degrees, then medicating the tank. Water changes should be done every other day, then more medication should be added. (The heated water will quicken the ich's life cycle, resulting in more free swimming larvae because of the increased reproduction rate) The fee swimming larvae will be killed by the medication (and/or salt, I use salt and aquari-sol actually) The shrimp should be removed, I'm not sure what the effects of salt or mediceines would do to the invertibrate.

Java ferns are tough plants, but if you want to play it safe, put them into a separate container with some aeration :)
