Hi Guys i think my clown loach have whitespot, they have the little whitespots on them and seen to be rubbing them selt on the gravel quite often,

Iv got some treatment for the whitespot, but my question is it says remove the carbon from the filter, i take it thats the black pads on my filter...... but if i remove these am i removing th bacteria from the tank because i have only just got my testing results down.

can someone advise me asap please.

what does the carbon black filter do and does it need to be in there all the time.

Carbon is normally granules or pellets within the filter, depends what filter you've got, carbon has a short life in the filter and taking it out and leaving it out won't affect the running of the filter.
Carbon is normally put in again to remove meds after treatment.

What filter do you have?

its the fluval u4 and looking around on the net looks like the stones are Bio-Max and the black pads are the carbon, so i can leave them out while treatment is happening???

and it wont have any affect on building my bacteria level?

You need to remove the black carbon before you add the meds.
Black carbon only needs to be used when removing meds. it only last for up to 2 to 9 days.
