Whites Things Balls?

3 of my fish in my tank have these white balls ur dead skin on them. i noticed it the other day on my cat fish. then he started swiming around and all his skin came off. are these white balls dead skin?
2 of my other fish have them 2.?

Does it look like grains of salt on them? if so that would be ick.. what size tank and what fish do you have?

its a 28 gallon bowfront. im not sure if if looks like salt or not but i guess u can say it looks like little grains of salt. whats ich and how do u tell if they have it, what do u do for it.

Ich is more commonly known as whitespot and is an infection that will spread through your entire tank unless you do something. It will start as a few white spots on a fish, then spread all over it and through the tank. There are a few ways to treat it.

1) raise water temp gradually to about 28 - 30 and add salt (cant remember the exact measurements, google for it)
2) get a medication for the tank.

is that what your fish looks like it has? while it could be described as "balls", it doesn't really look like dead skin compared to a few other problems which is why I'm asking. If you can get a picture of it, that'd be great. Also, this really belongs on the Tropical Fish Emergency forum.
