Just curious, when I do my water changes and siphon the gravel I end up with hundreds of little white wriggly worm like things in the bucket. What are they? Are they safe to have?

Are you sure it isn't just fish poop?

i used to .. but my fish ate them ...

i think they are bugg worms

flying bugs lay thier eggs in the water the eggs hatch and become little white worms that swimm in the water untill the develop into the bugs they really are

these cause no harm ... in fact they are a good source of protien for fish

Guys relax, it's probably just planaria which are harmless, and your fish will actually eat them. Just cut down on your feedings and do a few extra water changes and they will go away in time.

yeah that sounds like planaria
usually only show up when theres excess food or dead things in the tank, completely harmless to fish. just make sure your not overfeeding like Mako Man said.

Thanks everyone. They probably are planaria then, the fish do eat them when they come out of the gravel after a vac! Overfeeding is prob cause as I am constantly trying to limit my little lad from overfeeding.
