Ok...so I got the heat sorted out in my tank (finally) and I went to go vaccum the gravel...and in this one little spot (smaller than a dime) there is some sort of white crap. It wasn't there a few hours ago. I reached inside the tank and poked it...and it felt like a paste. I have Rosy Reds and a Plecostomus in this tank. Could it be eggs or fishy semen or something because of the raise in temp? Its weird...I'm scared to vaccum now becuase I don't want to suck them up if they're eggs.

How's the white stuff?

Without a picture of it, I'm not sure what it would be.
Could it be a lump of uneaten food? Sometimes in my lfs they have lumps of uneaten food in their tanks and it looks like white slimy small furry balls. Size depending on how big the food is.
If its eggs, they would look like a cluster of small smooth balls perhaps. I have never kept the fish you have so I am unsure of what their eggs would look like or if the parents guard them.

I take it those are barbs. Since you have one plec and barbs (who are egg scatterers and don't lay clutches of eggs) that's probably not a string of eggs. Might be defecation, since fish do sometimes have white fecal matter.

The thing about the dime shape and white crap is confusing, so a better description or picture would help. I would suggest removing that white mass if you don't get an answer in a day or so, just in case. :dunno:

I dunno...the fish are fine. The best I could describe it is a lump of pasty white stuff. Too big to be fecal matter..but its gone now. *shrugs* They are rosy red/fathead minnows btw, not barbs.
