White Stringy Stuff? Please Help!

I got my fish, Pumpernickel on Friday....
Saturday night I noticed a couple of the white stringy things on his fins
so I cleaned out his tank and everything inside really well

Sunday morning he looked fine, happy, swimming around, blowing bubbles
but to be on the safe side I bought some aquarium salt and put a little bit of that in
And Sunday night, he was still swimming around but I noticed these white strings.
There seem to be even more that before and I'm just not sure what theyare....

please help me!
Pumpernickel doesn't seem to be sad or anything, he's swimming around just as happily as ever..... its just those strings!

could be his fins are a little weak from bad water quality before you got him. my suggestion is do 50% waterchanges every day for a week and see if the fins improve.
he is really handsome! Red veiltails are my favorite!!!
