Hi Folks
My favourite HM turquoise girl has had very long stringy white poos hanging from her the last couple of days. This is the third one in that time. She still eats but is a bit stressed. Do you reckon its an internal parasite? The only treatment I can get here is Interpets anti-crustacean parasite treatment. Its very harsh and if the Ph drops below 6.5 during the treatment it converts to chlorine gas and its instant fish-kill, so I dont want to use it unless I need to.

P.S. the fin rippage is from spawning last week, and the only time I have ever seen her deposit white poo is when she releases loads of eggs (when alone) and eats them, but they are never so long and attached all day

Any advice would be great
Lee

Whats she eating at the moment? do you have any unusual plants in the tank?

Stringy poo is usually a sign of internal bacterial infection. Can you get any anti bac from Interpet. We've had a similar problem with a couple of our females especially after spawning as they seem to become more prone to getting infections.

Is she in with any other girls? We keep all our breeding girls separate now because of this but if you have to put her back with them I would try to leave it a couple of weeks so she can recover completely from spawning.

Hi Folks
I can give her "Interpets anti-internal infection treatment" whicj is for bacterial infections. She is in a divided tank with her spawn mate, the divider is frosted so they cant see each other. So you wouldnt treat for higher parasites/worms?

I feed her Atisons Betta Pro pellets, and there is no plants in the tank

Thanks
Lee
