Hmm.. ok I have a baby goldfish and it seems to have a white spots on it. The white spots are not very distinctive but while I was observing it at a certain angle with a certain angle of lighting I could see (faintly) white spots on the fin (on the back) and some white spots on the tail.

That's not normal right? I read the diseases page, but I'm not too sure if it really is "ich".

Sounds like ich to me. Is the fish flicking or rubbing itself against objects in the tank?

I would suggest you start treating early on. The parasite can only be stopped during it's free-swimming stage so the treatment consists of several doses over a few days.

If allowed to develop to the free-swimming stage, other fish in your tank will be infected and the disease harder to eradicate.

You can find some more info here and google should provide plenty of links.

Good luck!

aww... well ok I'll see what I can do, thank you very much for your help

here's something else... my fish somtimes rub themselves against things like the glass on the aquarium, the air tube and gravel... but that's only sometimes, maybe once in two days or so... that is ok right? or is there something wrong?

arg... omg this is soo annoying, I'm never gonna get anymore fish from the night market, this is killing me... arg! :/

btw... ich isn't contagious right? unless the white spots fall off and reproduce or whatever....

hmm.. ok another thing  sorry, but approx. how long does it take to actually see the "specks of salt" on your fish if they really do have ich?

this way, I'll just wait and see and not buy anymore fish :look: thank you guys for all your help!!
