This weekend I bought some new tank mates from the lfs (2 cherry barbs, and 2 more neons), a day later I had a Platy covered in white spots. Nothing else has changed in the tank except for some plant pruning and regular feeds. Which makes me suspicious about whether the new additions brought it with them... can it really be so apparent in 24 hours?

Thing that I'm really interested in. I rushed out and bought treatment straight away, dose 1 has already gone in, and dose 2 is due on Thursday. Reading up on it people advise cranking up the heater as high as 28-29C (83-84F) for a few days. Currently at 26C and worried about taking it higher because of advised temp ranges for stock. Any advice would be most welcome - I'm a proper fish newbie - and it was all going so well until now!

125 litres - 1 dwarf gourami, 6 neons, 7 platies, 2 cherry barbs.
edit: Forgot to mention, tank set up in feb, stocked during march/april.

going up to 28-9 wont harm them if only for a while mate :)
