im going to post this here too because i seem to get fast responses on this forum

today i came home from work and found that 2 fish have white spots all over them. i think one also has fin rot (half of her tail is gone). i have had them for over a week now. there is 4 platys, 13 fry, and 1 pleco. the fry dont have any spots on them nor does 2 platys and the pleco. the fish have been fine until today. what can i do that wont harm the fry if there is anything? the temp of the water is 81 degrees. i do a 25% water change everyday. the ammonia is at 1 all the time even after i change the water. nitrate and nitrate 0 PH 7.2 i havent added it in a week but i use cycle in the water. i use the tetra dechlorinator every water change. its a 29 gallon tank and havent added anymore fish.

Ok, you are currently cycling, so that will limit what meds you can use. I usualy recomend Waterlife Protozin. It contains Malechite Green however, that will effect your bacteria colony, when it is in the development process. My next choice therefor would be Interpet number 6 if in the UK. I am not bery well up on what is available in the US.

Waterchanges are still a priority, so you will need to still carry them out. Add treatment to the replacement water, for the volume you are changing :good:

i need something that wont kill the fry. they are 5 days old. and the tank isnt cycled yet

It looks OK on the info you have given. To be shure, I'd need to know what the active ingrediants are. These should be listed on the bottle :good:

Kordon Ich Attack

Active Ingredients:
5% active ingredients (multiple natural herbals containing Napthoquinone) 95% inert ingredients

Kordon Ich-Attack contains 5% active ingredients consisting of five natural organic herbals, based on their containing patented naphthoquinones. Totally free of chemicals (such as formalin and malachite) and all heavy metals, including zinc and copper. Does not affect pH of the water, or its oxygen content. Compatible with all Kordon water conditioners (NovAquas, Amquels, Fish Protector, PolyAqua, EZ4U tablets, Betta Tabs, Goldfish Tabs, ZymBac, VitaTrace, PhosRid

it says to remove the carbon filter when using the medication...what exactly is the carbon filter?

This med is not suitable, the active ingrediants contain naphthoquinones, which are anti-biotics. This will interfear with your cycle. I am unaware of meds available where you are based, so I can't realy recomend a replacement. The carbon filter is a chemical media that is usualy black in colour. It is often small lumps, or it can be a sponge. IMO this media is useless unless your are remoing medications. Worse still, it can be a hinderance. It addzorbs, so can leach muck back into the tank if not relpaced reqularly. Best adoided unless needed IMO :good:
