okay so i treated my synadontis with T.C. Tetracycline, i did my last water change today. my one large synadontsis still has a small white patch on him its not totally gone, should i do another round of treatment. the other two seem to be fine white patches are gone. should i wait for abit before i do another treatment or should i start another one right away?

why did you treat the fish with tetracycline?

tetracycline wipes out filter bacteria so monitor the water quality over the next month and do water changes if there is an ammonia or nitrite reading.

if the fish had a bacterial infection that needed strong antibiotics then you should treat the fish for a week. Tetracycline is normally used each day during this time and a 80-90% water change and complete gravel clean is done before re-treating the tank.

that would be so if they were in a tank with a filter and gravel the are in a quarintine tank with noting but heaters. i have not been able to find out what the white spot is its not parasitc not fungal so the next would be bacterial. i even to one of the fish to a petstore where there is a knowledgable person their he was as perplexed as i was so that was the route that we decided to take. i tried salt that didn't work either. the tetracycline seemed to work but their is still a little spot on the one synadontis so obviously it was working, do i treat them again or do i leave it for a bit and try something else?

White patches or spots are not normally bacterial in origin. It could be excess mucous caused because the fish is stressed out. Is there any chance of a picture of the fish?

If the tetracycline appears to be working, and you have only been treating the fish for a few days then probably continue treating it for a few more days. Anti-biotics should be used continuously for a week or so to make sure they have done their job.

sorry but I can't tell anything from the pic. The camera might have been too close to the fish when you took it. If the camera has a macro setting then try using that for close-up work. Otherwise have the camera about 30cm away from the fish. Most cameras can focus on stuff that is 30cm away and you should get a better pic.

How long have you been treating the fish with Tetracycline for and is it looking better today?

k i did 2 packs in 48 hours one every 24 hours, then a 50% water change, then another 2 packs in 48 hours one every 24 hours and then another 50% water change. and its been 2 days i will do another water change tomorrow. the 2 small fish the spot is gone the large one still has a small white spot its about half the original size. thanks for the help
