Hi. I just got a new all in one aquarium since i dont have a huge space. I had the tiger fish from before and since bigger tank added 3 more and have two snails.

Anyways I am starting to see white specs on my fish and the setup has been up for at least 3 weeks.

I got some pictures but they dont like there picture being taken lol. The white dots seems to be on the tail and around the eyes and mouth and underneath. They protrude out a bit. Also around the fins.

I was thinking ich or a fungus but I am not sure.

I am going to go to the fish store tomorrow. What water testing items should I get and what medicine.

Thanks

BTW hi since havnt been here for awhile.

:)

Those are tiger barbs. there like white bumps i guess that sort of look like salt grains.. Seems to be mainly on the one fish but an other is starting to get it. It wasnt there yesterday so this happened overnight. The one fish has on fins and around the eyes and chin. the other is mostly on the fins a bit on end tail.

These fish like to nip each other too alot.

Sorry never kept either not good on fish, are they flicking and rubbing against objects.

Well after reading that article i think it is ich. I am going to go get medications tomorrow. I added some salt which willhelp with healing and electroliites which i already have. I think this happened because they chase each other around into the plastic plants. I think after I get them healed i am going to switch to a sand bottom and add some real plants.

If you didn't do a fishless cycle the stress on the fish with the poor water quality with cycling has caused whitespot, your heater does is stay at a constant temp.

The aquarium has no heater. Has a big bulb at teh top that heats teh aquarium and the temperature is in the green on my fish thermometer.

Anyways Im going to go get meds for them and I have the one quaranteed in the old fish tank and he was pretty bad yesterday but I put some salt in the water and he is swimming upright today.

The others sjow signs of it but not as bad as him.

I am going to switch out the rock gravel plastic whatever crap for some nice sand and I am going to get rid of the plastic plants and put a log or something.

Had a question though. Wont be doing it right away because supposivley medicines can kill real plants but they have those metal clips on them .

Are those metal clips on the plant (real ones) fatal to fish in any way.

Remove the plants with the metal clip you don't want to cause a chemical reaction, I would also buy an heater as when the light are of the temp is going to go down and stress the fish out, good luck.

well two dies :( I hate when fish die since they are my little friends.

I have medicated and think the new tank water cycle wasnt good enough. If they all die i am going to run the tank for 6 weeks until adding new fish.

Snails seem to be fine. the two that dies where pretty infected and can't believe that ich showed up only 2 days ago and did this.

I did some tets and it says ai need to add buffers and such.

Anyone have an idea about that.

Think my nitrite and nitrate where way toxic too.

Never had this problem with my old tank.

:(

Ick can sneak up REALLY fast.
And it kills really fast.
It's a horrible horrible disease.
Sorry for your losses.
