hi all...
Around a week ago i noticed 5-6 small white spots on the tail fin of my discus fish,i duly treated the situation with a "white spot" preparation, after i had completed the course the spots are still there, the fish shows no sign of irritation and all the other inhabitants of the tank are fine ...?
Any suggestions?

The white spots are just the reporductive phase of the parasite's lifecycle. When these parasites latch onto the fish's skin, it encases itself so that medication is futile.

The way to get them to let go... raise the temp to 80-85. The ich will let go and become free-swimming. This is when they are vulnerable. Also, did you remove carbon from your filter (if you had it in there)?

I dont use carbon in my filter and my temp is around 32C,i thought these guys dropped off after a while! which is why i thought it may have been something else??? I`m starting to think this may just be a flaw in his tail fin that i never noticed when i bought him!
