Hi guys,
I got some two new platoes from my LFS which started to get tiny white spots on them a few days ago. I put the meds in the tank, and went to look in my tank this morning, and the new platies dont appear to have any white spots, but the majority of my other fish have a lot of white spots. I love my fish very much, and I dont want them to die, PLEASE HELP ME :-( :-( Is white spot easy to treat? I have some aquarium salt but i dont know how much to put in as I have cory cats and I know they are sensitive to it. How often do i dose the tank with meds? it doesnt say on the box. Help me guys!! what do I do!!!??? :-( :-(

- Change 25% of the water
- Slowly up the temperature to 30C
- Increase aeration
- Continuing treating

If you are going to try the salt and temp method of treating ich, you need to up the temp slowly to 30C. You have cories, so you need to use the salt at half dose. I would use one and a half tsp of salt for 5 gallons, or 18.9l. Make sure you dissolve the salt before you add it to the tank and keep an eye on the fish. If they show signs of not tolerating the salt, do a big water change(90%) and redose with a smaller amount.

I just did a 50% water change to remove the majority of white spots that might be swimming around looking for a host, or sitting on the sand, then added some white spot control medicine. I have to add it every other day until I have done three doses, then wait 3 days and do one final dose, and the white spot should have gone. If not, I will repeat until I am rid of it. Thankfully I have had no fish losses yet, and none of the infected fish even seem lethargic! I added the first dose of meds a few hours ago, and am already seeing an improvement on my mickey mouse platy :hyper: Thanks guys
