ok i have been out all day and no one been at home.i have come home to find a few fish with whitespot

now i know about raising the water tempreture to 29 /30 degrees and to use protozine as a treatment.

now heres the propblem i have no protozine treatment.
the only treatment i have in the house is waterlife brand myaxzine.

my quetsion is this would this be any use in the treat ment of white spot.

or as its only the first day of the spot appearing visible should i wait untill tomorrow to go and buy a treatment.

No myxazin a bacterial med.
You need a parasite med that treats whitespot
You will have to get a med fast as whitepot can be a fast killer.
Whitespot will look like a fish has been sprinkled in salt.

Do you know any other fish keepers who live near you who have a whitespot med.

yes i agree, my clown loach had white spot and it died within 4 days of me identifying the problem, i got told to increase the temperature and increase the air flow ( as the higher temperature lowers the levels of oxygen).
do you have an air pump?

guys i have been keeping fish for 25 years iam hardley a novice so please dont treat me like one.

i have read about people using myaxzine as a white spot treatment in marine tanks which i thought was wrong hence why i posted.

yes i know all about the raising of water tempreture and the lowering of o2 levels.

i have tried a few people for treatments but no one has any so looks like i will be taking a chance as i cant get any

untill first thing tomorrow.

Myxazin only works when a fish has a bacterial infections which the parasites have caused.
I would get a whitespot med fast.
You can use the salt and heat method but that all depends on the fish you keep.
I don't know much about it as never tryed it.

dont think i would not be greatful for any advice offered

like i said i have been keeping fish for 25 years and have seen a lot of treatments come and go.

i have read many posts on this site and the first thing that tends to come across from many is

every one seems to think you are a novice if you dont have a big post count.

first thing tomorrow i will be buying a treatment called protozine which will solve the problem.

thanks for the info wider. the only fish in the tank at prescent is

8 small neons

and 4 platys

not sure myself about adding salt with these fish although i have used this method in the past with out neons and platys
being prescent

Neon tetra's don't tolerate high doses of salt.
Good Luck.
Could always post in tropical discussion, more members go over there.
I have never heard of using a bacterial med with whitespot.

tbh i don't think 12 hours will make too much of a difference, provided that is that the water parameters are spot on, the temperature and o2 levels are raised and the light remains off.

It would be much better to start treating with Protozin tomorrow (or better yet WS3) than using Myxazin today and then switching if it doesn't work

neither had i wilder untill i read it and dont think it would work

i think things will be ok untill tomorrow morning the tank has been blacked out to avoid further stress

things should be ok i have dealy with far worse white spot breakout than this and not lost fish.

thanks for you advice.
