Hi,

I added new fish to my tank the otherday and now I have whitespot! I am giving then medication which I started yesterday morning. The directions on the medication suggests that I give them the medication every 48 hours then do a 10% water change after 5 doses. My question is that is the ammonia raises within this time can I do a water change, what implications will this have? Also I have put the light out to reduce stress but do I need to keep this off for all this time?

Thanks

hii, if the ammonia levels get too high, the fish might suffer from ammonia poisoning which proves fatal, i had a clown loach with white spot but it died :( , i was told to increase the temperature and increase the air flow. do you have an air pump?

the first thing i would do is not panic
which treatment are you using as this sounds like protozine based treatment

follow the instructions and do your water changes as directed as long as you have no carbon or zeolite in your filter

then the treatment should work .

increase your air flow in the tank if possible and reduce your feeding

ammonia wont be a problem if you are doing the water changes and reduceing the feed.

feed the fish every 2 days and only as much as they can eat in a minute or so
