As per my other post my dad got me some bits at the weekend for my tank and I noticed the next morning after a close inspection that the 2 clowns had white spot.

That day 1 of the clowns died and the other 1 had got worse so I thought it was best to loose him aswell.

This morning I woke up and the damsels that my dad had bought for me on the same day are also covered in white spot!

Now..... I don't really want to use chemicals to sort the tank out now unless I need to. Is regular water changes the best bet from here onwards to get the tank back good?

ps - the annenmoe hasn't settled and overnight it looks like he has expanded in length. I don't think he will last.

greg m8 its because ich has different stages and becuase the clowns had it the free swimming stage ones got onto the damsels. Only non chemical ways are fresh water dip on them- make sure is exact same temp and ph where u then hold the fish in there till u think he is about to turn on its side mean i know, like min or 2 it depends between each fish (but this can cause more stress and prehaps kill the fish or just make him worse, thats why i dont like the method), or feed them garlic in their foods i did it with seachem garlic guard and it did work for me as the odour puts off the parasites however its not 100% proven it works.

If all your fish are getting soon after they are put in check your water levels and ur acclimation methods cos its obviosly causing stress on the fish to then lower in thier immune system to prevent the parasites. Also when you got them did your dad look at them for a couple of mins to make sure they were in good health cos that could be another answer to the out break.

PS id do summit quick or ur tang will be coverd in it and he is the most susseptible (sp?)
Personally im not one for quarantine tanks, cos im poor but i prefer natural methods. I run a steralizer on it (ok yes it does help to kill swimmin staged parasites but it does work!) and if like the fhish has a small infection or fungus i leae it to him and the cleaner shrimps week later he is in full health!

Cheers Adam

I think I explained it slightly wrong!

All the fish with white spot (2 clowns and 2 damsels) have now been taken out of the tank (well 1 damsel left but he will be out soon when we catch him)

What I mean is now they are out what do i do to get the water back normal as it obviously now has ich/whitespot in it... Lots of water changes for a while and no new fish?

Keep the temperature high (83f) and wait 2-4 weeks before putting fish back in it. With no hosts (fish) present, the parasite will perish as it leaves its dormant stage
