Guys,

White spot is appering on my 6 platys. Okay I may have 1 fish overstocked in the tank but what can I do now!!! take him out, no way!

I have treated the tank with "Anti White Spot 6" and taken out the filter pad as directed and the second treatment should go in tomorrow, however, there are more spots starting to appear!!!

I had this once before but with a mixture of less hardy fish and I lost all the fish.

At the moment all fish are happy. eating and fins up and don't seem stressed at all. The tank seems to be very calm (2 males, 4 females) in a 10 US gal tank.

What is happening and is there anything else I can do. Im getting very worried that this will spread again and I will loose them all again.

Thanks for any advise from a worried beginner.

Take out carbon filter, treat as per the instructions on the anti white spot med, do a 10% water change per day, and increase temp as ich cannot live above a certain heat. Reduce any stress also to the fish like vibrations. Not much else you can do.....Can anyone back me up on this as im not 100% sure that what i said is correct.
By the way, Platys are not likely to drop down and die with ich, they are very robust. I had a fella and he had ich for 2 months solid, every thing else died but him.....theres hope yet.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Actually, increasing tank temperature speeds up the ich's life cycle, so they spawn faster and die quicker. When they spawn, the larvae are released into the water, where they are killed by medication :)

Okay my carbon filter is out and I just have the white and black filter pads left in, I have put 5ml of the white spot treatment mixed in 500ml of the tank water and added to the tank. Tank water has turned blue and the water has stuff in it now that has come from the filter when I took the carbon filter out. I guess this will clear now.

Q: Do i feed the fish still tonight?
Q: Do I put the same carbon filter back after 5 days or put a new one in?
Q: Do I feed the fish as normal during the treatment.

Thanks

Just feed the fish as nornal, are you sure you have taken the carbon out, as you say you have some black pads still in there, only add the carbon back once the whitespot has completely gone, dosn't always go in one treatment.
