Hey guys.

Right im in a good pickle here.

I currently have 9 fry in a breeding trap, all looking well and eating.

A few days before they were born, i bought 3 guppies and 3 more dalmation mollies, now i have an outbreak of white spot in my tank, again.

In the past i have used Interpet Anti White spot plus, but i also had some melafix come in the post to me the other day. I need to use the melafix aswell because one of my guppies has a large portion of its tail fin missing.

Does melafix treat white spot? If it does not, is it safe to use both treatments at the same time? And most importantly will any of these treatments harm the fry?

heeeelp :( last time i had a water test done, nitrate and nitrites were reading sky high and im not sure if they have dropped :(

do you only have livebearers in the tank? a more natural rememdy is using salt but before adding the salt (if you choose this way) do a 50% water change to try and lower the levels a bit.

livebearers like to have salt anyway so this shouldnt phase them

get aquarium salt and add 1 level teaspoon per gallon to give you .1%.
12 hours later add another level teaspoon per gallon to get to .2% and then again 12 hours later to get to .3%.
this level of salt will also help the fish through the dangerous nitrite stage of your tank.
raise the temp as well to 80f.
when doing any water changes, gravel vac well and remember to add back 3 level teaspons per gallon you have taken out.
keep this level for two weeks and then slowly decrease the salinity by doing small water changes and adding 1 level teaspoon per gallon.
for the long term its best to keep your fish at .1%.

thanks for that advice, but because i have not much room at all to work with at the moment i cant do any water changes or gravel vaccing :|

ive had to wedge the breeding trap under the light fitting because if i let it float, the water level sometimes goes over the trap and the fry get out.

Id rather just put the interpet treatment in as its worked well before, and if u look at my sig, is it ok to use salt with all of those breeds?

if you cant do water changes then you will lose all the fish anyway to high nitrite levels.
if the fry are stopping you getting in then can you get a really small tank with a heater or have them in a warm room?.
i missed your sig sorry. you have cory which dont tolerate any salt, so you will have to use the meds then. melafix is just an antiseptic so its no use against diseases. i would leave the melafix and dose with the meds but i really think you need to sort out water changes first.
