Recently I have had an outbreak of dieseases in one of my tanks that sprang from nowhere.

On Wednesday I noticed the Nobol Distichodus and another large barb had white spot so I treated the tank with Anti White Spot meds. Today I noticed the Nobol Distichodus was very poorly with cloudy eyes and my African Knife fish was covered in slime. The water parameters were all fine so I was stumped.

I was then told that my paraents had painted the ceiling in the room where the tank was, so my conclusion is that the water has been poisoned!

To make matters worse, the tank had an air pump connected which must have been pumping in paint fumes for the last week!

I have done a 30% water change and treated the tank today with Anti Slime Diesease meds.

I am unsure whether to add carbon to help remove the paint fumes, or to keep adding meds and doing water changes.

The Nobol Distichodus is in a bad state so I don't know if he'd make it if I didn't treat the tank. 5-6 other fish have varying degrees of white spot and slime diesease which arn't as drastic. It is mainly my larger fish which are suffering which is probably because they take in more air hence more paint fumes.

Please help!

How the fish breathing.

Signs of toxins in the tank are, darting, excess mucas, fish will sometimes roll over upside down, laboured breathing or gasping at surface of tank, fitting.

Water change and add the correct amount of med back to water removed.
