I've got a 340L tank with common goldfish and red shiners. I recently noticed the goldies fins suffered and assumed the shiners had become nippy so I moved the shiners to a different tank and started dosing melafix.

Today I've come out to find that some of the shiners have what looks like whitespot (which I'm treating now) but the goldies are torn to shreds - one is dead, and the other look terrible as you can see below. I've only added melafix so far to the goldies tank - should I be treating for fungus or white spot?

I'd treat them for fungus; if they have whitespot underneath all that, you can deal with that later.

Poor things; they do look awful It's amzing (in a bad way) how fast these things can take hold :(

Have you checked their filters are still running, that no pollutants have got into the tank and all that stuff? (I'm sure you have, but it's easy to overlook things when something like this happens)

Yes, that's all fine. The only thing I added out of the ordinary were some floating plants awhile ago - everything else has been the same as normal.

Whatever it is, I'm down 2 goldfish in 2 days - the one pictured above is dead now.

Have started treating with Myxazin, hoping that's enough to save the last one.

Sorry for your losses :( Hope the Myxazin works.
