Got a serious problem in my smaller tank ive noticed my plattys are covered in what appears like salt particles (white spot) but were im confused is that they also have stringy bits coming off them and 1 or two have the stuf on their eyes, it also looks quite saw aswell, seems to be effecting my corys too any idea what this is.

Water stats seem fine, i dont want to add any salt because of the corys, but would they be able to handle small dose of salt ?

Here is some pics of the worse effected he looks pretty saw, and ive now noticed some white hair like creatures swimming around

Most corys can handle a small dose of salt.
It sounds like whitespot but fish don't normally get it on their eyes. They might have a fungus infection too but that should only affect one or two fish in the tank, not everyone.
If all the fish have the same symptoms then I would think it might be excess mucous from poor water quality or a chemical that got into the tank. Perhaps an ammonia surge.
Whitespot is generally brought about by a stressful situation. It happens most frequently in winter when cold water gets added to a tropical tank during water changes.

Be careful using medications because corydoras don't like many of them. Most have instructions suggesting a half dose for corys and other scaleless fish.
