White Spot On New Cichlid

While it doesn't look like the pics I've seen online... could it be columnaris?

Columnaris spots will look greyish white with a tinging of red.
White pimple spots can be bacterial. Fungus can grow on them.
Then there lymthocsytis. Will look like smooth lump, cluster of eggs, or a cauiflower growth.

Can you issolate the fish. As I would maybe try a bacterial med.

Glad your other tank is free of whitespot.
Thanks for the update.

I can't isolate the fish right now, as all three of my tanks are in use, and the tank I was using as a med tank was leaking. It will take a while to set up a new sick tank.

You will have to add the med to the main tank then.

Ok.
Good Luck.

going to store today to find meds.

Let me know what med you get if you don't mind.

the pet store near me just got new meds... so I'm going to head over and see if they have the med you suggested in the "which medication to use" thread.

Here's some recent pics. As you can see, he's eating well... but he still has those pesky spots. I still can't identify them no matter how long I stare at him. (Which is starting to annoy him. I can tell because instead of hiding, he comes to the front of the tank now and stares back like "how do you like it?")

(He's eating well though. There he is going after a blood worm.)

Just make sure the spots don't look like a cluster of eggs, berries, or cauliflower.

He never lets me get that close of a look, but when I take a picture and zoom in... it really doesn't look like a cluster of berries or eggs.

would that be Lymphocystis - the cluster of eggs or califlower look I mean?

cause I've looked online and it doesn't look like any pictures I've seen of Lymphocystis except for maybe this one...

But I don't know.. again it's hard to tell cause he doesn't let you get a really good look at it.

Ok.
I would try the bacterial med to see how it goes.

ok, now the thought of Lymphocystis has me freaked out since I've read it isn't curable, so I tried to get a closer look. (Put on some camoflauge to lure him out)... and grabbed these pics...

what do you think about these?

I wouldn't panic yet. It dosn't look like lymthocystis, but we do need to rule it out.
I would try the bacterial med first.
Lymthocystis can also look like smooth lumps.

When fish get lumps, bumps, or spots filled with fluid, it's best to issolate incase they burst.

This is a pic of a smooth lymthocystis lump.

Ok, I'll have to order the meds online because I can't find the ones you recommended anywhere. My petstore only carries the Melafix I already have which you said is useless.
