Further to an earlier topic, I am interested in treating white spot with salt/higher temps as described. We seem to have been constantly treating with chemicals for white spot with little success as it never seems to go completely.

I have read somewhere that corys do not need salt in the water, however, does that mean it is actively harmful to them?

We have guppies, bronze corys, swordtails, tiger barbs and dwarf acquatic frogs - any problems with salt with any of these?

And do I need to buy aquarium salt or is the ordinary house hold variety okay?

Thanks peeps. :)

Salt won't go down well with the corys as they are a scaless fish, also I don't think salt with the frog, if you do use a whitespot med, you will have to remove the frog from the tank.

In answer to your other question, you need to use aquarium salt as table salt has anti-cakeing agents added. Your super market may have pure seasalt crystals which should be ok, just check the packet before you buy. If in doubt, get aquarium salt.
