Fish Gatherer
GRR my tank has an outbreak of white spot. I’m so angry with myself I introduced 3 new fish to the tank and didn’t quarantine them so it’s my own fault . I noticed them yesterday; I went straight out and got some white spot medicine from pets at home; all they had was interpet white spot medicine.
Just wondering what else I can do to help them along (as far as I am aware the interpet medicine is to be used on day 1 (yesterday) and on day 4; if there are any more symptoms then to treat again.
I need to increase the temperature, to around 30oC. They are at around 25 celsius at the minute.
I also read lots of water changes are needed but then it defies putting medicine in the water IF I change it daily. I just did a 50% water change the day before I put the medicine in actually.
Would adding a bit aquarium salt be beneficial?
Stats if it helps on Tuesday before the water change were:
Ammonia = 0ppm
Nitrite = 0ppm
Nitrate = 5ppm (maybe up to 10 but certainly not more than that).
Tank is a female betta sorority.
I’ve had fish for 17 years and this is my first experience with white spot
