Ok, where to start....
My tank is 216l (56us gal). Stocked with 2 clown loach, 3 bala sharks, 1 golden nugget plec and a chinese algae eater. All was fine. Then we bought a third clown loach. White spot developed on the new clown loach within a few days of being introduced. Over the next few days the other clown loaches, the balas and the plec all showed early signs of whitespot. Went and bought 'interpet anti whitespot plus' to treat the tank. Followed instructions exactly, did the first treatment then four days later did the second treatment. Nothing happened, whitespot got worse. A day or two after that the plec died. Did a small water change. Treatment said to wait 7 days before doing another dosage. Over the next two days all fish died except the chinese algae eater, who doesn't show any signs of it at all apart from flicking against the stones a bit. I've thrown away the large rocks and plants in preparation of stripping the tank completely. What I would like to know is should I start the treatment again after a large water change with the cae still in the tank, or should I put him in my 60l with some cardinals and danios etc. (this tank is not affected at all).
Please help!

if you take all of your deorations out, except the gravel, and them them dry out completly, then you would have killed all ich cells on them. if you move the cae, then he will most likely end up giving your other fish ich, so my suggestion to you is to leave him in the tank for treatment. is there any other ich remedies your lfs has to offer? if so i would try that. is there any carbon in the filter? if so this may be removing the chemicals

Thanks for the reply. There isn't any carbon in the filter. When you say take everything out and dry it, do you mean all of the substrate (ie sand), I fear this may be too difficult with the cae in there, as my tank is rather large. Also there is one plant in there that I want to keep - a lily. So frustrated!

I would treat the tank again after a big water change. Then, before you add any more fish, wait a week or 2 after it clears up to make sure it's not coming back. If you can get it, try Cure-Ick by AP. You add one capful for every 10 gallons once a day, for 3 days. Then if there's still some ick, do a 25% change and start the 3-day treatment again. Usually it rids the fish of it within 24 hours. Of course, always continue the treatment for the recommended time. I've had good luck with it. If you can't find it though, I'd just ask lfs folks what they use (if they use anything at all!).
Good luck!

The thing is, the cae doesn't have it, so how do I know when the whitespot has died off?
