Just want to say HI to you all as this is my first post...
Well i have a problem with my clown loch...
I got 2 of them from (PETS AT HOME) But when i got home i noticed, what i think was white spot only a little bit.
So instead of taking them back i decided to treat them.
Well 2 weeks have gone-by and its just got worse, now its all over the body.
So now I'm thinking that it could be fungus but it looks just like white spot.
So my question is, How long does it take for white spot to cure. And can i put the fungus treatment in with the white spot at the same time...
Thanks agin, Dave...

How many gallons or litres is the tank.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

What med are you using?
Are you only half dosing as it can take longer. It can sometimes take two rounds of meds to get rid of whitespot.
have you raised temp to 30 and removed black carbon from filter.

Hi, there.
about 20 gallons
7 Neon 6 Cherry barb 10 Guppys 2 Honey Gourami 2 Clown Loach 5 Apple snails
Water stats are good apart from my water hardness which is high...
I'm using Interpet Anti White Spot, and API Pimafix for the fungus...
I'm just going by the bottle and treating the all tank...
And have raised the temp...
No carbon filter...
Thanks, Dave...

Hi sh3p69
How big are the clown loach and the apple snails?
Did you know that clown loach can and quite often do eat apple snails?
Clown loach grow big, like up to 15-16 inches. but more typical is between 7-10 inches.
And the apple snails can grow up to the size of a tennis ball, and won't be an issue
for a hungry clown loach.
I do think your tank is over stocked and it ceartainly will be when all are fully grown.

Back to your question,
Does it look like someone has poured salt /suger all over the fish?
Fungus has quite a few looks depending on the type of fungus.

Regards
Scott

Your tanks severely overstocked.
I would get your water tested.
Clown loaches are very prone to whitespot.

Hi Scott.
My clown loach`s are on the small side.
The apple snails a about just as big as the clown loach!!!
Yes it looks like they have been laid down and had a LOAD of sugar sprinkles all over it! But been treating it now for about 2 weeks coming to 3 weeks, and does not really seem like its helping...
But is it OK to put some fungus treatment in at the same time as the white spot, or is better to only do one treatment at a time...
Thanks, Dave...

Hi sh3p69

Wilder is correct your tank is severely over stocked and you will keep running into problems im affraid.
A rule to go by is 1 inch of fish to 1 gallon of water so i would look into shortening your stock or a larger tank.

ok im pretty sure its white spot then from your description.
White spot has a life cycle of about 1 month but if you increase the temp it shortens its life as the parasite thrives
in hotter water.

What temp is the tank at? is it at 30 like wilder suggested? However keep a close eye on the barbs and guppies at higher temps they may start to struggle a little especially the barbs....but they should be fine.

make sure the tank has alot of aeration.

Have your snails survived? as interpet anti white spot is not good for inverts.

Has every fish got the white spot or just the clowns?

I would only treat with 1 med at the moment, & see if wilder can suggest one to be used with the interpet anti white spot.
But i dont think you need a med for fungus as i think its white spot.

what dose are you using for your 20 gallon tank?

Does the white spot seem to getting worse - staying the same or getting better?

and can you post your waters stats?

Regards
scott
