i have recently set up a tankm for my neighbour that has been riddled with problems.
1-rogue bala shark now dead (RIP)
2-Pentazona Barbs jumping out the tank (has a lid on ) ( i think there called pentazona but i could be wrong)
3-my neighbours tank has just been struck with white spot i have raised the temperature to 28 and add some salt. (the tanks is a 48 gallon (uk))
I first noticed it on the pentazona barbs which has now passed to everything but the catfish in the tank what else can i do the tank has
18-20 neon tetras
3-tiger barbs
4- pentazona barbs
2-corydoras
one of the tiger barbs died as there was four but no trace of a body is there at all
p.s the tetras have also caught white spot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and a bristle nosed catfish (anstricus)

Right remove the salt as corys can only tolerate small amounts of it, plus they don't seem to tolerate high temps either, before you redose do a gravel vac, how long has he been treating the whitespot and which med, also what are the water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, how long has the tank been set up.

is this a thermometre inside the tank or outside, as we found that the outside thermometres tended to measure the temp of the room as well as the tank, therefore while you think the tank is at 82.. it is actaully at 76.. which is what we found  ideally to increase white spot life cycle you need to up the temp to above 80 (which obviously you know), therefore if the tank reading is not actaully above 80, then your suspected temp incease hasn't actaully done anything!
