Got a white spot outbreak in my community tank. I've removed the infected fish and put them in the treatment tank.

What are my chances of the other fish NOT catching it? Or should I treat the whole tank just in case?

Problem is, I've got about a dozen or more Cherry Shrimp in there and am i right in thinking the treatment will kill them?

Last time I had an outbreak (about a year ago) I lost loads of fish. At the time I was thinking that a lot of them may have died due to the treatment. Is this the case? Should I be expecting to loose more this time?

Thanks. :(

I've never lost any fish or shrimp due to treatment of whitespot. But I think I've always caught it really early.
Catching it early is the key to beating whitespot.

What are you planning to treat with?
I used API Anti Whitespot.
I have loaches and shrimp, all came through it fine.
In your position I would probably keep the infected fish separate. But treat both the main tank and quarantine tank to be sure.

ich lives in the water so you must treat the whole tank, there's no point in removing the infected fish.

there's pinned topic about the ich lifecycle that well describes how to and why treat it

Did you use ws3 with the shrimps? I've got the same problem. I've also got a couple of Nerite snails and loaches in there as well - any info on using ws3 with these will be gratefully received
