White Speck?

my friend (who i got into bettas ) recently IMed me and said Flame had a little white speck on him. this was her description:

Flame has a small section of white on the tip of his fin...could that be some kind of sickness? its just a tiny bit of white. he's been acting normal, but its been there for a few days.

i'm guessing ich or finrot? i've never had to deal with betta sicknesses before. she said she'll try to get a picture.
