hey guys. i'm my 11 months of fish keeping i've never come across this.
the glass looks like it's covered in white specks, but if you look closely most of them are moving
and some move quite fast. it's not the planaria worm things 'cause i've seen those (always in my turtle tank)
and this like i said, it's not long like a worm, it's just tiny, 1mm or less white speck that is alive and moving.

it looks like what ICH looks on a fish, but on the glass...my fish dont have anything on them. its on my glass, (all sides) and on some of my amazon sword leaves.
i thought it was something else, but i noticed these white things starting about 3 days ago. so it started recently.

sorry i have no picture as I'm 100% my camera can't capture this... look at this period ->>> . <---- that's about the size of the things!

any idea as to what they are? if you do, why are they there and how do i get them out?

thanks for any help :good:

Well sounds like Hydra to me.

One method to killing them is by taking your fish out of the tank and raising the temperature to 106 degrees F. Let it stay at that for 10 minutes then do a 50% water change and add the new water at a lower temp (obviously slightly lower than where you want the resting temp). I haven't done this before but I have heard that this works against Hydra.

But thats assuming this is Hydra. If someone else could confirm that it is Hydra that'd be great.

Hope this helps

Yeah, I have this too. Tank has been running for a few weeks now with no problems though.... They are like tinny little bubbles which virbate. Gona try turning off the filter and seeing if it's that that is moving them....

If you look really close and you see what looks like a flower, then it's hydra. If they are small white and flat but move along the glass it could be some sort of planaria (planaria is a general term used for a multitude of pests, so it could be one you haven't encountered before.) If it's hydra, fluke tabs will kill them. I think planaria are brought about by overfeeding and or water quality being less than ideal. I could be wrong though.
