Don't really know much about the med to be honest.

If you could of isolated the sick fish I would of gone with maracyn 1 & 2.

I dont have a place to isolate her, Since it says to repeat for 5 days, would you recommend just daily. like once a day or more?

Just follow the med instructions. Don't want to overdose.

Start a thread in tropical discussion about maracyn oxy.
Hopefully some members on the site might of used the med and offer advice.
If it's any good on columnaris.

OK.
Let us all know how you get on if you don't mind.

Good Luck.

Purchased Maracyn Plus today. Should I start treatment?

If you want to give the fish a chance, then yes. There are two types of columnaris, a slow and a fast one. If your fish is still alive, then it's more likely the slower killer form and she'll suffer to death in a long time unless she's treated and of course get the rest infected if they aren't already.

I wasnt asking to sound stupid, I just was double checking that it was the correct thing to use for treating her.

And I didn't mean to sound patronizing either. Sorry.

Marazyn plus treats both gram negative and gram positive bacteria so it should be effective against columnaris. Make sure that you increase aeration because the medicine will take up oxygen, keep the temperature no more than 24 degrees during treatment and a spoon of aquarium salt per 5 gallons which columnaris hates, only if you don't have salt sensitive fish though.

What counts as salt-sensitive? would my bubble bar be enough air in my 29g tank?

Only add salt if all your fish tolerate it.
Also if you have black carbon in your filter remove it before adding the med to the tank.

Keep an eye on water stats as maracyn plus will knock your good bacteria in your filter.

Good Luck.

I dont think I should add salt... would it bother my corys, plecs and syno? or the fry?

Salt sensitive are certain scaless fish like corys, loaches, etc....What type of fish are you treating?

The filter flow and the bubbler should be fine, just keep an eye on them if they start gasping at the surface, then add another air pump or lower the water level so the filter outlet splashes stronger over the surface.

Hope your fish recover soon.
