After I got my ottos (about a month ago) I noticed that at least two of the four would sometimes have 1-2" of poop hanging from them. It is whitish brown in color but not completely white. I posted something in the catfish section. I though maybe it was just a normal otto thing. Now I notice that my Serpae Tetras have whitish poop. It is not "stringy" but it does hang about 1/2" out of their anus.

Combine this with the fact that all of my fish seem very lazy and I think I have an internal parasite problem. My cories never play any more. They just swim around the bottom of the tank or hide under the plants.

There are no other signs of sickness. No lumps, bumps, fuzz, or slime.
Fish are fed once a day. Nutrafin flakes, sinking catfish pellets, frozen brine shrimp(on occasion), cucumbers

I use Flourish and Excel for my plants. Stress Coat to dechlorinate. No set schedule but usually a 20% water change once a week.

Is there a downside to treating?

20 gallon tank, medium planted, ammonia/nitrite/nitrate 0/0/15

Am I being over sensitive? What should I treat with?

Try more veg and frozen foods in there diet.
Frozen daphnia good as it helps the fish digest its food.
Cook peas for a few minutes, let cool, down, pop out of shell, mush between the fingers into tiny bits, then add to the tank.

Signs of internal parasites are
Long stringy white poo.
Inflamed red anus to enlarged.
Being thin or bloated.
Sometimes bent spine.
Seeing worms prutruding from the anus.

if im out of hi protein food and only use flake i get short white poo.

I now feed frozen/bloodworm/peas etc every 3 days. I know get dark poo....

If the fish poo went back to a normal brown colour this fish sounds like they had constipation, which peas are good for moving the fish bowels.
