Hi,

2 days ago I noticed one of my female dwarf gourami had a white "growth" on one of her fins, looking closely at it it looks like 3-4 "blobs" that are joining together. I thought it could be Ich (I have had that before but it was more spread over the body) but I am not 100% sure.

I tested the water and it is giving me 0 for Ammonia and Nitrite and about 40ppm for Nitrate (using API master kit). I did a 50% water change and I have treated for Ich using the interpet #6.

I have tried real hard to get a picture but its hard trying just to get the fish, let alone the moving fin! I think i have got something that may be of use, I also spotted what looks like a brownish spot on her at the top of the body. She is acting 100% normal and is eating well, even bossing the other female away from food! I have not noted any flicking etc, and none of the other fish (see signature) have anything visible.

What would be your recommendations? Last time I had Ich the spots kind of fell off after 2-3 days ... should I wait, or is it not Ich?

Thanks!

Anyone? The white bits are still there this morning, none of the others have anything, water stats as normal ...

Hiya,

We have now got an opaline and a moonlight gourami

The moonlight went in first almost a fortnight ago, closely followed by the opaline

I almost instantly noticed a similar growth on the opaline

Had ich for the first time a while ago, so i kept looking and looking until i was sure it wasn't signs of ich

I am treating for finrot/fungus with api melafix, never used this product before but it was all one of my lfs's had to hand

So far it seems only the opaline has signs of something wrong, all the other fish are fine

Ohh and the tank water stats are the same as usual, seems gourami's are prone to certain problems especially dwarf variants

A very late update, I used the interpet treatment for finrot and fungus #8, that did the trick, back and healthy with a new fin within weeks.
