Two Black Mollies and a Fighting Fish in my tank are infected with 1-4 long white worm like things protruding from their gills or base of their fins. (The 6 Neon Tetra also in the tank are unaffected.)
The 'worms' are 8-10 mm long and slim with a forked tail and cause a small swelling where they are attached to the fish. The fish generally seem healthy otherwise, though maybe a little subdued, and the tank is within normal temperature, pH etc limits.

If anyone has any ideas as to what these are and how to get rid of them I would very much appareciate haring from you.

sounds like gill flukes. sterazin should do the trick however thats for the uk, as i dont know where you are i'm not sure if you can get this. in the UK most fish stores will stock it.

hope that helps

I thought they might be flukes too but upon further reading they are 1-1.5 mm long and these are much bigger.

I've been using anti-slime and velvet treatment which claims to also deal with flukes but its had no effect.

hmm, i'm not an expert so not sure what to suggest next. if you have a spare tank seperate the effected fish to contain the spread. if not i'd bag one up and take it to the most clued up LFS in your area and see what they think.
