Hey everyone, I have had my Bosemani rainbow fishes for a couple weeks now and recently they started having weird white upper lips. Their behaviour is normal otherwise and the parameters of tank are 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite and 5 nitrate, I do weekly 50% water changes.
I put them into a salt bath + lifeguard for four days which seemed to clear it up but once they returned to my main tank they developed the lips again within a couple days. I was worried it was columnaris but I'd assume that wouldn't of been cleared by salt + lifeguard and would've killed them by now.

I would appreciate some help in solving this.

I don't know much about diseases, other than ich, but you mentioned it was cleared up but now is back again. Any possibility that your fish have mechanical damage, possibly fighting with other fish in the main tank? or trying to get something with their mouths that they can't quite get?

Another possibility is that there is something in your main tank that is spreading to your fish, or you didn't continue treatment long enough and the condition is coming back. I will have to let someone else speak to that.

Hey its been a while so I'll post an update. It was mechanical damage from them I guess having bashed the glass when they were first introduced and nervous. Its basically all cleared up and they're healthy and happy.
