white furry stuff on bulbs

i just started my fishless cycle and one of my aponogeton bulbs has some white fluffy stuff(fungus?) on it ..is this a big concern or can i just take it out and wipe it off

I just posted in the plant section, but I'll post it here as well. That bulb will not grow. It's a dud. I'd chunk it.
