Hey guys
I have a dusty looking white film on the surface of my water, on the opposite side of my spray bar. The spray bar is on the side wall of the tank so the agitation removes the film on that side but not at the other end of the tank.
If I put the spray bar on the back I still get the half with and half without the film because my spray bar only reaches half way across the tank.
How do remove this, I have tried the paper towel method, I'm mot too keen on the look of the air stone as it looks too in natural for me.

Is it worth getting a powerhead for that half of the tank?

If the output from the spray bar isnt reaching it then yeh, might need a little powerhead at that end if you're against airstones. What filter do you have, could a skimmer be rigged upto it?

Aquamanta efx 300 external filter, I'm guessing the film is nothing to worry about but it plays on my OCD ?
Any recommendations for a powerhead?? My tank is a 62 gallon 48 long

Ok, if you have an external then you can get an inlet that has a skimmer attached. Would have your inlet at the opposite end of your tank to the outlet (spray bar) if you don't already

Example of one

The surface biofilm is fine unless its not covering the entire surface as it can reduce gas exchange with the atmosphere

Thank you, I will try one of those first see how that gets on.
Are they all the same or are there certain brands that are better

Yeh just posted that as an example, you'll probably need to look around for one that suits your setup, but i believe there's plenty to choose from. Might even be a DIY solution knocking about if you're able

Biofilm, it's common and harmless

I understand completely....it used to bother me the same, but I've gotten used to it....

Its harmless, yes. But if it coats the surface, it prevents gas exchange, which is dangerous (build up of co2, loss of o2)

Good water surface agitation will prevent the film from causing any issue with gas exchange :)
