i am not sure on the substrate to use i am deciding between
black gravel
brown gravel
coral sand

i want to know which one is best and most natural
i was talking to a mate and he said i could use coral sand and then watching a dvd on setting up tanks they prefered redish-brown gravel.

Use the coral sand

In the wild, the cichlids love to dig in the sand on the bottom of the lake, and the fact that it is crushed coral helps to keep the PH nice and high, which is natural for the cichlids.

I use crushed coral mixed with this:

The sand doesnt actually look black like that. Its white sand with some black sand mixed in. Probably 80/20 ratio white to black.
