about 3 months,i currently have 5 searpea tetras,1 male black sword,1 red wag platy, and 1 common pleco.I am planing on giving the searpeas and the pleco to a friend with a 40 gal.The sword will live in a 5 gal and the platy in a 2 1/2 gal. After i complete this mission i want to start a live plant tank,i currently have a corcscrew val and a rotala indica.then i have plans for either 1 clown loach and 3 female bettas.Or 1 clown loach or 5 drarf sunset platys. My Q is that witch option is better and any live plants recomended for a live plant begginer?

there are also tons and tons of snails any help on that.

Also can you guys of fish forum give me advise and a list of low light plants?

Thanks ! :)

p.s : i'm younger than how i post! ;)

well for a start clownloach's should be kept in groups, normally dig up plants and grow to around 12" so no good for your tank sadly. Also the common plec will need a bigger tank than a 40gal but thats a different matter!

Easy plants to start with would be java moss and java fern, you just attach both of them to wood/stone/anything really with cotton and they grow.

As for your age i would guess 10 - 12? sorry if i've offended you though!

kk,

my list:

java fern
moss ball
a smallish val. looking plant
bamboo
and about 5 others

well it is a normal bamboo plant that they sale in the water. It's not drowned or fake,it's real bamboo. Not your avarage lucky bamboo(it's a succulant, lucky bamboo)

if i took a plant from the garden, stuck it in a fish tank with water and sold it, does that mean it is aquatic? no.

Please don't be mean it's my first "planted tank" ,i thought i was aquatic.TT.TT

well ....kk

my "new" list

1 moss ball
2 java ferns
2 ounces of java moss
1 hornwort
1 banana plant
3 ounces of duckweed
2 others

what i have:

1 corcscrew val
1 rotala incala

is that alright?

rotala incala

I presume you mean rotala indica? If so, this will not survive long as it needs high lighting & CO2. Also, banana plants need a fair amount of light.

Apart from them, everything else is fine.

Good luck :good:

um....i have 25 watts, the top of the plant is very lush and green and pearling, but the bottom is very bare.

how have you planted it? you should plant 3-5 stems about 3cm apart from each other so light can get to the bottom.
How deep is the tank? Tanks over 24" need stronger lighting to penetrate to the bottom.

it's in a sponge! the tanks is about 8-11 inches deep , i will cut the plant ;) but what do i do with the rest of the plant ,do i throw it away?

replant it. just a tip:

cut off the top and it will bush out and produce sideshoots
uproot and cut the bottom off it wil grow straight up.
